Letter From Secretary General

Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means,” said Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of United States. One can easily understand that “the peaceful means” stands for diplomacy and the success of mental agility which are the basic functions of United Nations.

Dear Intended Participants,

On behalf of our Executive Board and Teams, it is my upmost pleasure to welcome you all to the second edition of Antalya Fen Model United Nations Conference as the Secretary-General of this session.

First of all, I believe it is crucial to state that, in the last few months both academic and organisation teams have worked relentlessly and efficiently to reach their aims which are serving you a qualified and prestigious MUN conference, leaving an excitement for the next sessions and being memorable. At the very beginning of preparation process, we also set our minds on the topic of the goals of Model United Nations Conferences which are raising awareness on critical issues and improving the students’ ability to find solutions for world’s agendas.

With respect to our agreed theme which is “re-create the reality,” our desire is serving an opportunity to all of our participants to interpret their own sense of reality. Hence the Secretariat decided to compose six committees listed as UN Women, GA1: DISEC, UNCTAD, US Senate, H-UNSC and JCC: 1984. I wholeheartedly believe that, among these committees you will find your perfectly-matched committee according to your interests, and you’ll have a chance to debate upon long-standing issues, uprising topics or fictional situations. Hereby, I can guarantee you, this four-days-long experience will contribute a multifaceted thinking system and diversified visions to you.

Before concluding, I just want to state my gratitude to honourable Academic Team, my diligent Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Kıvanç Peltek, my dearest Director-General Ms. Mine Sude Sezer, and her fellow Deputy Directors-General Ms. Topal and Mr. Karakuş. Without the effort of yours, it wouldn’t be same.

By the end of my words, I would like to invite you all to the AFMUN’20 to re-create the reality. I’m looking forward to meet and talk you in person.

Kindest Regards,
Hilal Beyza Taşdemir
